meg regan

I have more than 16 years’ experience as a dance educator in both public schools and private studios. In the public school setting, I created and implemented the PreK-8 dance education curriculum for schools in Pittstown and Plainfield, New Jersey. As a part time lecturer for Rutgers University and William Paterson University, I led undergraduate and graduate courses in modern dance technique, dance pedagogy and dance history and appreciation.

I have presented at state and national conferences on themes such as anti-bullying, problem solving for novice teachers and dance teacher identity in the 21st century. I have been a member of various committees at the New Jersey State Department of Education, including performing arts standards writing and review, model assessment creation and establishing guidance for aligning social-emotional learning targets to dance education standards.

My experience in private studios includes serving as managing director of a popular studio in Hoboken, New Jersey and teaching a range of movement classes for both children and adult learners. As a choreographer, I directed a nonprofit dance company called Meg Hebert Dance and as a performer have had the opportunity to dance in David Dorfman's "Underground" at The Brooklyn Academy of Music and Lincoln Center Out Of Doors. As a professional organizer, I started my own business (Sort It Out with Meg) to help clients clear clutter, manage schedules and live more simply.

From 2020 - 2022 I served as Managing Director of Dance New Jersey, a statewide service organization committed to connecting dance and dance education through advocacy initiatives, professional development education, and programming support for dance field throughout New Jersey.

I hold a Master of Education in Dance Education from The Graduate School at Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University.

My family and I reside in Bernardsville. I love my work as director of Dance Local where I can teach dance, play, and create with our community! I feel proud to lead us all at “Your Place to Move!”
